Edward I. Altman — Keynote Speaker
Edward I. Altman is the Max L. Heine Professor of Finance, Emeritus, at the NYU Stern School of Business, where he also served as Director of Research in Credit and Debt Markets at the Salomon Center for the Study of Financial Institutions. He earned both his MBA and PhD in Finance from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Prior to his current role, he chaired Stern’s MBA program for 12 years and was awarded the Max L. Heine Endowed Professorship in 1988.
Internationally recognized as a leading authority on corporate bankruptcy, high-yield bonds, distressed debt, and credit risk analysis, Professor Altman has shaped the field with pioneering research and influential models, including the renowned Altman Z-Score. He served as President of the Financial Management Association (FMA) in 2003 and was named an FMA Fellow in 2004. In 2005, he was listed among the “100 Most Influential People in Finance” by Treasury & Risk Management magazine.
Dr. Altman is the Founder and Executive Editor of an international finance publication and has published and edited numerous books and scholarly articles in top journals across finance, accounting, and economics. His work has been translated into multiple languages, including French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, reflecting his global academic impact.
Beyond academia, Professor Altman has contributed to the cultural and educational community as Chairman Emeritus and Trustee of the Interschool Orchestras of New York and as a founding Trustee of the Museum of American Finance. He also continues to serve as the permanent Conference Chairman of the International Risk Management Conference (IRMC).
