Biography

Heitor Almeida is the Stanley C. and Joan J. Golder Chair in Corporate Finance and Academic Director of iDegrees at the Gies College of Business, University of Illinois, where he has taught since 2007. He is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research.

His research focuses on financial constraints, liquidity management, business groups, financial distress, innovation, and stock repurchases. He currently serves as Managing Editor of the Journal of Corporate Finance and as Associate Editor for the Journal of Financial Intermediation and the Journal of Banking and Finance. He has also served on the editorial boards of several other leading finance journals.

Professor Almeida holds two BAs, from the Federal University of Minas Gerais</strong (1991) and Central University Una (1993), both in Belo Horizonte. He earned his Master’s in Economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and a PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago (2000).
