Oliviero Roggi — Academic and Research Biography
Professor Oliviero Roggi is an internationally recognized scholar in finance and risk management, with a research career that bridges corporate finance, valuation, and enterprise risk management. He is a Full Professor of Finance and Risk Management at the University of Catania and serves as Professor and Researcher at Fundação Dom Cabral in Brazil. He holds a PhD in Management and Finance from the University of Bologna and City University Business School (European Joint PhD, 1998). His academic journey includes professorships at the University of Florence, as well as visiting appointments at NYU Stern and FGV–EAESP.
Professor Roggi’s scientific research focuses on how risk measurement, governance, and valuation influence corporate stability and firm performance. His landmark book, Risk, Value and Default (World Scientific), explores the intersection of enterprise risk management, corporate valuation, and default prediction, offering frameworks widely referenced in both academia and practice. This work underscores his long-standing specialization in credit risk, financial governance, and corporate default analysis.
His academic contributions extend beyond monographs to cover SME credit ratings, sovereign and country risk, strategic risk-taking, and sustainable finance.
